Job Description

Agility Partners is seeking a qualified Junior Data Engineer to fill an open position with one of our clients. This is an exciting opportunity for an early‑career professional to build real‑world data skills in a supportive, fast‑paced environment. You’ll work closely with senior engineers and analysts, primarily using SQL to query, clean, and prepare data that powers reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with writing and optimizing SQL queries to support reporting and ad‑hoc data requests
  • Help create basic database objects (tables, views) and maintain data dictionaries and documentation
  • Support routine data quality checks (duplicates, nulls, referential integrity) and simple SQL‑based transformations
  • Participate in loading data into staging tables and preparing datasets for downstream use
  • Troubleshoot query issues (e.g., incorrect results, slow performance) with guidance from senior engineers
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to validate results and ensure datasets meet business needs

The Ideal Candidate

  • Foundational SQL proficiency: comfortable writing basic queries and joins; curiosity to learn window functions and indexing
  • Understanding of relational database concepts (keys, normalization vs. denormalization)
  • 0–2 years of professional experience (or internship/capstone/bootcamp projects); recent grads welcome
  • Detail‑oriented, coachable, and comfortable asking questions and working through feedback
  • Able to document work clearly and communicate findings to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Bonus (not required): exposure to Excel/Google Sheets or a BI tool (Power BI/Tableau), and interest in learning simple ETL concepts

Reasons to Love It

  • Learn directly from experienced data engineers while working on meaningful, production datasets
  • Clear growth path from SQL fundamentals to broader data engineering skills over time
  • Supportive team culture that values curiosity, reliability, and steady skill development
