Internship Details - Schedule: 25-35 hours per week

About the Role The Finance Summer Intern will support the Town's Finance Department by assisting with special projects and day-to-day operations across multiple functional areas. This role is designed to provide broad exposure to municipal finance, allowing the intern to learn how a local government finance office operates while developing practical, transferable skills.
Interns will have the opportunity to shadow finance professionals and gain experience in areas such as accounting, budgeting, billing and collections, purchasing, customer service, risk management, and occupational safety.
Duties and Responsibilities - Assist with special projects related to accounting, budgeting, billing and collections, purchasing, surplus property, and risk management.
- Support customer service and administrative functions within the Finance Department.
- Help maintain financial records, reports, and documentation.
- Gain hands-on experience using financial systems, databases, and Excel.
- Shadow Finance Department staff to learn a variety of municipal finance processes and best practices.
- Perform related duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience - General knowledge of math, databases, and Microsoft Excel.
- General understanding of business concepts and finance-related activities.
- Recently graduated high school student or currently enrolled college student pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, math, political science, or a related field or certification program.
- Special Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
- Possession of a valid driver's license preferred.
