Business Data Analyst

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote)

Worksite Address: 4601 W Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78751

Duration: 10/01/2025 – 08/31/2026 (with potential extension/renewal)

Hours: Up to 2,000 hours per candidate (approx. full-time)

Schedule: Onsite Monday, Tuesday & Thursday , Remote on other days

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Business Data Analyst to join our team for a hybrid contract engagement in Austin, TX. The analyst will focus on analyzing existing business requirements, documenting current state processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement. A major part of this role is translating complex business needs into actionable requirements , writing Epics and User Stories with acceptance criteria , and working closely with stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and system capabilities.

This is a senior-level role that requires a strong background in data analysis, requirements documentation, and stakeholder collaboration .

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze current business processes, data flows, and system functionalities to identify gaps and pain points.
• Elicit, document, and validate comprehensive business requirements for new systems or enhancements.
• Write Epics and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria to communicate functional and non-functional requirements.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation, including business requirement documents (BRDs), data dictionaries, and data mapping specifications .
• Design and present visual data models and dashboards to communicate trends, KPIs, and project timelines.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, developers, and QA teams to ensure alignment.
• Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and data-focused meetings , driving consensus and resolution of issues.
• Recommend process and system improvements based on data-driven insights.

Required Qualifications

• 13+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Data Analyst in the IT industry.
• Proven ability to work with technical and non-technical teams to analyze and solve data-driven business problems.
• 10+ years of experience designing/optimizing data workflows and management processes using modeling or mapping tools.
• 10+ years experience writing Epics and User Stories with acceptance criteria.
• 8+ years of experience creating/maintaining data documentation (data dictionaries, BRDs, mapping specs).
• 8+ years experience designing/presenting visual data models and dashboards .
• Demonstrated ability to lead data-focused meetings, document outcomes, and resolve issues .

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4+ years of experience managing multiple data-related projects concurrently.
