Veterinary Assistant -Pacific Animal Hospital

Oceanside, CA

Pacific Animal Hospital is looking for a full time Veterinary Assistant to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance , to support services including admitting and discharging patients.


Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a general practice or specialty Veterinary setting
  • Veterinary Assistant Certification (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred, not required
  • Previous experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
  • Familiarity with veterinary software and medical terminology
Role Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments
  • Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, and administer medications
  • Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine, fecal, etc.)
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist in surgical prep and recovery
  • Educate pet owners on preventative care and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow up with clients
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience-$21-26/hr . The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location .
