McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist in or near Richmond, VA. The Sr. Data Scientist will support the development of analytic solutions across McKesson. Our team applies data science methodologies to interdisciplinary business problems across Finance, Operations, Accounting, & Supply Chain. This position will work closely with multiple business units such as Treasury, FP&A, Operations, and Pricing. The position's objectives are:

• Develop and implement advanced machine learning solutionsto support new business initiatives and facilitate next best actions.
• Architect and lead the implementation of driverless forecasting systems, leveraging best data science practices and technologies.

The candidate should possess the ability to perform statistical modelling techniques and derive business insights that are required to drive analytic innovation at McKesson. Additionally, the candidate should be an active learner, capable of grasping and applying new analytic approaches, as well as mentoring junior or developing resources.

Position Description:

The purpose of this position is to architect, implement, drive adoption, and measure impact of innovative analytic solutions at McKesson, as well as make significant improvements to existing solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement predictive modelsto analyze pricing data and forecast trends.
• Apply machine learning algorithmsto optimize pricing structures.
• Design and oversee the implementation of model variance analysisand impact tracking frameworks.
• Guide the deployment of statistical models in production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teamssuch as sales, marketing, and finance to develop pricing strategies that align with business objectives.
• Prepare detailed reportson pricing analysis and recommendations for senior management.
• Partner with the business to build out a recommendation engine leveraging predictive models.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience in data science / analytics / programming

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as: Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Finance, Economics or related quantitative / STEM majors. Master's and/or PhD a plus.

Critical Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to tackle problems across the full data stack, from data wrangling to stakeholder consumption at scale.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning / data science techniques.
• Knowledge of programming in Python and SQL.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Strong grasp of fundamental statistical concepts: forecasting techniques, reinforcement learning, unsupervised learning, regression, A/B testing, cluster analysis, outlier analysis, probability distributions, tests for independence, etc.
• Experience solving problems at scale leveraging both cloud platforms and relational databases

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with AI techniquessuch as natural language processing (NLP), Gen AI, LLMs, computer vision, and reinforcement learning to enhance pricing models and optimize revenue.
• Using mathematical models to optimize pricing a plus
• Experience in developing statistical simulation decision frameworks a plus
