The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system serving the City & County of Denver. DPL has 27 locations and serves diverse communities with outreach, mobile services, and thousands of programs annually. The Library Program Associate position is based at the Ross-Broadway and John "Thunderbird Man" Emhoolah, Jr. Branch Libraries. Responsibilities include creating positive experiences for library customers through programming and outreach to educate and promote library usage to diverse audiences. The role requires trauma-informed customer service, collaboration with colleagues for high-quality service, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating programs and events regularly, building community partnerships, effective communication with customers, staff, and administration, participation in library committees, providing storytimes and early learning programming, supporting branch supervisors, and assisting with other library functions as needed. The Ross-Broadway Branch serves a diverse community including youth, older adults, and unhoused neighbors, while the Emhoolah Branch is a historic Carnegie building with upgraded facilities and community spaces. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills, ability to understand community demographics, commitment to welcoming environments for all ages, experience with storytimes and adult programming, technology skills, positive attitude, cultural sensitivity, problem-solving skills, knowledge of library services and programming, and ability to engage diverse audiences. Minimum qualifications include one year of relevant experience substituting for education. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
