Overview Head Esports Coach – High School role at FREMONT RE-2 SCHOOL DISTRICT . Qualifications Ability to organize, manage, and supervise a comprehensive esports program. Prior successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major or competitive level preferred). Demonstrated knowledge of the technical aspects of esports, with a commitment to ongoing learning of new strategies, industry standards, and coaching methods. Serves as a positive role model for student-athletes through actions, communication, and instructional leadership. Reports To The Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and conducts evaluations in collaboration with the High School Principal. Supervises Advises, coordinates, and supports assistant high school esports coaches and middle school coaches, in collaboration with the Athletic Director and building principals. Job Goal To teach student-athletes the fundamental skills, strategies, and training necessary to achieve both individual and team success. Equally important, the coach fosters socially responsible character development, self-discipline, confidence, and pride in accomplishment. The Head Coach is also expected to continually develop their own skills and knowledge through clinics, professional development, and collaboration. General Statement Athletic programs significantly shape the community’s perception of the school system. While performance outcomes are highly visible and may carry community pressures, the primary goals of the program remain sportsmanship, student well-being, and educational growth. This position requires extended hours, travel, and the ability to manage potential risks and challenges. In all cases not specifically addressed, the Head Coach is expected to exercise sound judgment and professionalism. Duties And Responsibilities Program & Compliance Enforces all athletic policies approved by the Fremont RE-2 School Board of Education. Maintains knowledge of district, state, and league regulations; implements and interprets them consistently. Understands administrative chain of command; refers grievances and requests appropriately. Attends required staff, departmental, and public meetings. Staff Leadership Establishes and communicates program philosophy, skills, and techniques. Plans and leads staff meetings, clinics, and professional development. Delegates responsibilities and evaluates assistant coaches. Maintains discipline, morale, and collaboration within staff. Completes additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director/Principal. Administrative Assists with scheduling, transportation, and tournament preparation. Ensures proper facility use and coordinates with school staff as needed. Manages eligibility, medical clearance, and consent documentation. Safeguards and maintains program equipment and facilities. Recommends program or procedural changes to the Athletic Director. Student-Athlete Development Serves as a mentor to promote integrity, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Monitors academic performance and conduct of athletes. Provides supervision at practices, competitions, and travel. Establishes and communicates training rules and program expectations. Implements injury and emergency procedures, completing required reports within 24 hours. Directs managers, assistants, and statisticians. Ensures fair disciplinary procedures and communicates with parents as needed. Assists students with post-secondary opportunities related to esports or higher education. Finance & Equipment Assists in budget preparation; ensures compliance with budget guidelines. Accounts for all equipment, ensuring collection or replacement of lost items. Organizes equipment distribution, storage, and reconditioning; maintains accurate records. Secures facilities and supervises equipment room access. Monitors locker rooms and facilities for safety and cleanliness. Promotes respect for school property and equipment. Public Relations Organizes preseason meetings with parents, players, and staff. Promotes the program within the school and community. Manages communication with media outlets regarding schedules, tournaments, and results. Builds positive relationships with booster clubs, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans. Ensures accuracy and professionalism in all public and media communications.
