Tasks Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria (RTDCA) seeks a Development Manager to help realize its vision of creating healthy neighborhoods for residents in Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia by: Maintaining housing for low-income homeowners Providing critical home repairs that eliminate health and safety hazards Providing modifications and upgrades to schools, parks, and other common spaces in underserved neighborhoods About the Position: The Development Manager is responsible for managing and advancing the fundraising efforts of a growing, $3M+ organization by securing funding from private philanthropic sources and growing community awareness of, and engagement with, RTDCA’s programs and services. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Development Manager’s primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Creating and implementing a development plan in partnership with the CEO to maximize funding streams and reach annual revenue goals through corporate ( priority ) and individual philanthropic support. Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding all corporate and individual prospects and donors, providing an exceptional experience that attracts new supporters and regularly engages them in RTDCA’s mission. Organizing fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events and campaigns. Managing RTDCA’s donor database (Salesforce), ensuring timely and accurate acknowledgement of all gifts and pledges, managing the relationship-building process, and tracking all cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts. Gaining a thorough understanding of RTDCA — our values, history, culture, communities, programs, constituencies, and governance structure. Staying abreast of nonprofit fundraising trends and best practices. Serving as staff liaison for the Board-led Fundraising Committee. Working with a Development/Communications Coordinator. Requirements About You: We recognize that an individual’s experience is gained through a wide and diverse range of personal, professional, and educational opportunities. These are the skills and values we prioritize: Knowledge of fundraising strategy and principles, with a demonstrated track record of identifying, cultivating, securing, and expanding donor relationships over time. A proven background in soliciting and closing large corporate gifts, in addition to developing, implementing, and managing annual giving and major donor campaigns. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to build relationships and represent RTDCA to funders, external partners, and the general public. Ability to network effectively. Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also to be a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside RTDCA. Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Benefits This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
