Would you like to work with world-class journalists at a digital media company seeking to reinvent the way it covers news and reaches readers?
The San Francisco Chronicle is looking for a reporting intern to join our food and wine journalists for an exciting summer covering the Bay Area's dynamic dining and drinking scene. Our summer journalism internships typically begin in June and last through August, but there is some flexibility to accommodate college schedules. This paid 12-week intern will hit the ground running, covering a variety of stories and will also receive training and mentoring and a working knowledge of the complexity of a modern digital news operation.

That includes social media operations, participating in team brainstorming and assisting esteemed critics with their on-the-ground reporting work. And yes, there will be opportunities to try new food and drink as part of the job.
The ideal candidate will hustle and compete to be first on a story, while engaging readers through social media, visuals, graphics and alternative story forms. We need someone with high standards, curiosity and empathy who can collaborate and is comfortable providing and taking feedback.
Requirements:
This position will be full-time, paid at $19.18/hr, based in the Bay Area for Summer 2026. All college students, including community college students or students who will have recently completed their associate or bachelor's degree, are encouraged to apply.
