Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, this position is responsible for aiding in the development and execution of enterprise-wide communication messaging while maintaining a positive brand image corporate-wide and across the bank's footprint. The Corporate Communications Coordinator will work cross functionally with multiple lines of business and partners to ensure internal and external messaging is on-brand and executes on Atlantic Union Bank's broader communication strategy and format.

Position Accountabilities

This position encompasses a range of responsibilities that may include contributions across the following areas:

Internal Communications

  • Follow and execute against an internal communications calendar designed to educate, motivate and provide regular information to Teammates bank-wide to encourage a connected workplace.
  • Assist in the development and/or edit Teammate communications across different lines of business within the organization including email messages, talking points and newsletters.
  • Collaborate with business partners to gather information about important initiatives and priorities, aiding in the development of communication content based on this information.
  • Along with all members of the Corporate Communications team, ensure that Teammates are following established corporate communication policies, processes and functions in regard to requesting and disseminating internal messaging.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of corporate events (e.g. executive Road Shows, etc.).

Public & Media Relations

  • Support the execution of public relations strategies in alignment with corporate priorities, under the guidance of senior communications leadership.
  • Assist in the development of story ideas to promote organizational initiatives through earned media.
  • Draft press releases and media pitches to support the public relations content calendar.
  • Conduct follow-up on press releases and pitches to help secure media placements for the company.

External Content & Channels

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support the organization's presence across external communication channels.
  • Assist in the creation, review, and distribution of content for various platforms, as needed.
  • Help to ensure that all external communications meet regulatory and compliance standards.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Manager, Corporate Communications.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required; preferred major in field associated with corporate communications or marketing (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent experience in related field)
  • 2+ years of experience in the communication/marketing field with preferred experience in internal communications.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing and proofreading
  • Must have a working knowledge of generally accepted business practices for the profession of internal communications and media relations
  • Knowledge of AP Style preferred
  • Proficient computer skills relevant to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and design tools, such as Canva
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to details
  • Flexible, able to adapt to change

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
