This position will provide instruction in anthropology courses, primarily forensics and biological anthropology. The successful applicant should be prepared to engage students through teaching classes in a variety of modalities using varied instruction and assessment methods and technologies. Essential Functions Teach students by incorporating multiple methods of instruction and assessment. The teaching modality for this position is primarily in person, but may include online and hybrid formats. Develop written syllabi/course materials; prepare and grade assignments; evaluate student knowledge of subject matter taught for the purpose of maintaining course grades, and hold regular office hours to assist and advise students. Develop and enhance knowledge of course subject matter to stay current with new developments in the field of Anthropology through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops, and through personal study and journal review. Participate in Department, Campus and Districtwide committees and activities; participates in departmental activities; performs related duties commensurate to the level of the position. Participate in other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications A graduate degree is required. A faculty may qualify with any of the following: Master's degree or higher in the teaching field OR Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours Instructional Council (IC) Anthropology Faculty Service Area (FSA) Anthropology Subjects ASB, ASM The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field: Anthropology, Applied Anthropology, Archaeology, Social/Cultural Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, Physical Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, Medical Anthropology, Classics, Classical Archaeology, Near Eastern Archaeology, Egyptology, Maritime Archaeology Course Subjects: Anthropology, History, Sociology, Biology Course Titles and Keywords: Global, Ancient, Prehistoric, Precontact, Culture, Precolumbian, Biology, Evolutionary, Anatomy, Religion, History, Women, Gender, Queer, Indigenous, Ethnography, Ethnographic, New World, Old World, Near East, Africa, African, Mythology Desired Qualifications A. Teaching experience in Human Evolution, Biological Anthropology and/or Forensic Anthropology (must provide list of courses and semester taught). B. Research or work experience in Human Evolution, Biological Anthropology and/or Forensic Anthropology C. Teaching experience using multiple modalities (for example: hybrid, online, and in‑person) D. Regular professional growth (research, publishing, presenting, attending conferences, coursework, and training) and involvement in activities related to anthropology. Special Working Conditions Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving. Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require numerous evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
