Job Summary:

The Airport Maintenance II Technician will provide general airfield maintenance to ensure operational safety of the airport 365 days per year, 24 hours per day: maintenance of the airfield facilities and aircraft operational areas to ensure safety in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Code of Federal Regulations Part 139.

The salary and hiring range for this position is $18.78 - $25.36 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This opportunity will be available to applicants until filled.

Essential Functions

  • With guidance from the supervisor, performs airport repair and maintenance of equipment, hangars, buildings and grounds.
  • Twenty-four (24) hour on call events such as snow removal during winter months including weekends.
  • Performs general operations and assist with the maintenance of all airport tractors and mowers.
  • Conduct job duties safely within an airport environment where aircraft operations occur.
  • Maintain the airfield in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations upon completion of required training.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience

  • Preferred: 3 Years general maintenance or related field with an emphasis on duties most closely related to the essential job functions, including operating various types of equipment.
  • Some: Experience working at an airport and operating airport equipment with aircraft operational areas.
  • Some: Experience working at a Part 139 Certificated airport.

Certifications

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain airport credentialing.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally including by the use of aircraft radio communications.
  • Must be fingerprinted and pass a ten-year criminal history background check as required by TSA to work within airport secured areas.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions

  • Frequent: Light to moderate physical effort that includes frequent standing or walking or maintaining arms and hands in the same position for repetitive tasks. Frequently works with light objects and light hand tools.
  • Occasional: Moderate to considerable physical effort that includes working from ladders in awkward positions. Frequent use of light or medium weight objects (e.g., 25-50 lbs) and use of medium weight tools.

Working Environment

  • Occasional: Exposure to hazards that are predictable or well protected against.
  • Frequent: Exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements.
