We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and self-driven entry-level Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer in our AM department located in Poway, CA.

This position will support the growth of AM at GA-ASI, focusing on metal laser powder-bed fusion AM projects and manufacturing operations to support flight-ready parts for various platforms and programs. The role involves working on metal AM primarily, with exposure to other modalities like FDM/FFF, SLS, DED, and tooling technologies. It combines technical expertise in AM with support for daily operations, process improvement, equipment onboarding, and stakeholder communication. The position requires interaction with multiple internal teams and external suppliers, contributing to the integration of AM into GA-ASIs products and processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Become SME on metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and other AM modalities.
2. Support operations and new application development alongside manufacturing engineers.
3. Lead workflow development, qualification, and continuous improvement to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
4. Assist in manufacturing planning, process development, and safety protocols.
5. Support AM technicians and document processes and work instructions.
6. Review engineering drawings and provide expertise during reviews.
7. Learn other AM processes and materials for new applications.
8. Collaborate with design, materials, process, and quality teams.
9. Explore and assess new AM technologies.
10. Support design for AM and manufacturing/production operations.
11. Manage non-conforming parts and perform root cause analysis.
12. Participate in internal R&D and external AM groups.
13. Support supplier onboarding and growth strategies for metal AM.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in engineering or related field, with two+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with industrial AM technologies, especially metal LPBF, in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with AM workflows, including design, printing, and post-processing.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes like CNC, casting, welding, metrology.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience with MRP and PLM systems is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a self-driven attitude.
• Willingness to travel and obtain security clearance if required.

Salary range: $68,770 - $116,193
